Marcus, a Roman commander, is traveling from one place to another, encounters bad weather, and is forced to stay at a nearby inn for several days. It's a shady establishment that also offers their guests the services of whores/bed slaves. Esca is one of them.
Esca catches Marcus' eye and Marcus requests for him. Esca goes to his room, they have sex, Esca leaves. The next evening, Marcus sees Esca entertaining a group of roughnecks, who're roughing up him badly. Marcus saves Esca by requesting him again, this time paying for the entire night.
Cue Marcus falling for Esca and Esca being too jaded and wary to believe that anyone would want him for anything else besides his body. And what happens when it's time for Marcus to leave the inn and continue his journey?

Esca has been trained to be a fighter/killer/torturer since he was a little kid. He obeys orders without hesitation, never asks any questions. He is, for the lack of a better word, owned by some ruthless emperor/leader/king/military commander.
Then Marcus's army/squad invades the place where Esca lives and kills his master. Esca tries to kill himself, following the rules that were instilled in him, but Marcus stops him and tries to convince him that now he's free. Esca is confused, it's not like he really knows how to make any decisions for himself or even consider the ideas of "freedom" or, let's say, "future".
Marcus is, of course, afraid of Esca, but he's also on some level aware that deep down he's a brainwashed kid with almost no social skills, no matter how smart or skilled he is.
Esca decides that from now on Marcus will be his new master and follows him. Marcus can't really do anything to stop him from doing that, short of killing him.
The problem is that Esca's default reaction to any confusing/threatening situation is violence, and the only thing that keeps him in check are Marcus's orders (no matter how reluctant Marcus is to give them).
tl;dr - Esca is a killing machine and listens only to Marcus, reluctant to give orders.

"So, this can be either a canon au or modern or futuristic or anything...but Marcus is injured as a child (like when he's five or six), so his dad hires/buys teenage!Esca to help Marcus. So esca kind of resents him at first, but Marcus is so sad and pitiful and sweet that Esca can't help but sort of adore him. I cannot express how much I adore the OP, a wonderful little being named
nebulia for requesting this amazing prompt in the first place. It has quite epic potential, I have to admit, but even a single scene, or a drabble or anything really, would serve to quench my (and no doubt the OPs) thirst.Esca/Marcus- AU, Esca has been Marcus's slave/servant since childhood
"So, this can be either a canon au or modern or futuristic or anything...but Marcus is injured as a child (like when he's five or six), so his dad hires/buys teenage!Esca to help Marcus. So esca kind of resents him at first, but Marcus is so sad and pitiful and sweet that Esca can't help but sort of adore him. So Marcus gets piggyback rides and Esca becomes pretty much his only friend because Marcus gets alienated because he's rich/a gimp/whatever.
Anyway, Esca is there for Marcus all the time...when his dad dies, as he's learning to walk again, etc., and as Marcus begins to grow up things start to get sort of weird. Cue Esca feeling really wrong things for his teenage charge and Marcus desperately hiding a crush from his best friend."

pouxin's fic over at the KMM is doing all things to me, I have decided to go with this prompt that has been suggested by the lovely ninja_orange and is another, deliciously inviting Teacher/Student AU: Esca/Marcus- Teacher AU where "Esca/Marcus Teacher/StudentMarcus is Esca's teacher. Would love jailbait but not actually underage (so, Esca is 16-18) and would like Marcus to have a few qualms that he (eventually) overcomes. Bonus points for Esca more or less seducing Marcus, if only by being a hot piece of ass.
